Our kindergartners and first graders with Ms. Paez and Ms. Torres at LP have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through fun, interactive activities. As we conclude our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our classes came together for a special collaborative lesson focused on community—how we come together to help and support one another!
Each class read “Paletero Man” by Lucky Diaz, a joyful story that highlights kindness, responsibility, and the spirit of community. To make the experience even more meaningful, one of our wonderful parents, Mrs. Miranda, made all of us paletas (Mexican ice pops) to enjoy, just like in the story!

The library center gets a lot of love during the start of our school year! 📚💛 In this center, children gain the foundation for reading. It also provides a place where children can relax and enjoy the wonderful world of children’s books. In this area the student can read a magazine on their own, look at a book with a friend, use puppets or a felt board to retell a story, or write their own story with the help of a teacher! We love getting cozy in this center with a seasonal book, or a theme focused book. Reading is such a powerful tool that helps children with critical thinking, gives them new words and vocabulary to express themselves, and also teaches children problem solving skills.
